Chad Schmitt, founder of TLC, is a second-generation adjuster and appraiser with more than two decades of experience across nearly every corner of the property claims industry. He grew up around the insurance world until officially entering the field in 2004, during one of Florida’s most devastating hurricane seasons. Beginning his career working with insurance companies, he helped homeowners navigate the claims process and secure the funds needed to rebuild. He later served as a specialist on complex files, including large-loss claims, public-adjuster-represented matters, and sinkhole cases throughout Florida.

Chad’s career expanded beyond claims adjusting as he gained experience in construction, mitigation, and project management. He has served as an estimator and foreman in the restoration and foreclosure sectors, managing everything from water and mold mitigation to large structural repairs on bank-owned properties. His field work across multiple states, including Ohio and Pennsylvania, strengthened his practical understanding of how losses occur, how structures fail, and what it takes to restore a property correctly.

After years of working for insurance companies, Chad chose to step away when the industry’s direction no longer aligned with his values. Seeing too many claims minimized or denied, he felt a responsibility to advocate for policyholders rather than uphold practices he could no longer support. That decision guided him into public adjusting and ultimately led to the founding of TLC.

Today, Chad serves homeowners, public adjusters, attorneys, contractors, and policyholder professionals across the United States. His work includes appraisals, detailed estimating, loss consulting, inspections, and comprehensive documentation for residential, commercial, and large-loss claims. He is known for a hands-on, detail-focused approach to every file, ensuring that each claim is evaluated thoroughly and with integrity.

Alongside his professional work, Chad is a devoted husband to his wife, Amanda, and a proud father of six. His family is the grounding force behind his commitment to doing what’s right and helping others find fairness in the claims process.
